ST. ANDREW, Grenada – The St. Andrew’s Carnival Development Committee (SACDC), on Saturday December 16, held a grand Bingo with a jack-pot of EC$25,000 at the Grenville Car Park, inside of the ‘Big Parish’. This was organized by the Committee as a fund-raising event.
Before the Bingo started however, the SACDC helped to liven-up the town and put people in a Christmas spirit by organizing an exhilarating show, which featured local artists like ‘Small Axe’, ‘Torbulus’, ‘Mr. Legs’, ‘Sethie-Boy’, ‘Darius’ and ‘Sheldon Douglas.’ The crowd, which averaged 1000, was undoubtedly thrilled by the awesome performances.
The SACDC has, without a doubt, adopted a very pro-active approach to spreading the Christmas spirit throughout St. Andrew’s this year. For the past two weeks, the Committee has arranged for parang groups to move through the villages in the parish of St. Andrew at nighttime to serenade villagers.
During this week, they will be making an appearance at the Spiceland Mall in Grand Anse and then attempt to bring their parang up the west coast of the island. These activities will culminate in the distribution of toys to children at Bain’s Upper Level on Christmas Eve.
