Special Info
Vennie Thomas, Thomas was born in Conference, St. Andrews, Grenada, on June 1st, 1950, to Edna Thomas and Alexander Noel. Ven as he was affectionately called by his wife, Papa as he was called by his children/grandchildren, and brother Thomas by his church family, passed away after a hard fought battle with diabetes and its many complications.
Vennie did not spend many years in school, but he was an accomplished tradesman from a very early age. He served in the Ministry of Education maintenance department in Grenada for 25 years as a Plummer. He was also a sailor who found time to sail to many countries before he migrated to the US in the early 90’s. In the US, he continued his career path working for assorted companies, friends and relatives until he became too ill to work.
Vennie loved to cook, bake, and eat. Often times he competed with his two sons as to whom was the better cook. He loved to experiment in the kitchen and was always willing to share whatever he experimented on. He cooked for weddings, funerals, parties, and just about any occasion.
Vennie was a long and faithful member of the La Poterie Seventh Day Adventist Church. He then joined the New Haven Seventh Day Adventist Church family when he migrated to the US. In both congregations, he held many offices and worked hard for the Lord. Among those were Sabbath School Teacher and Choir member. He also loved to sing. One of his favorite hymns was song #446-Oh that will be Joyful.
Vennie was a very devoted husband, father, grand-father, brother, uncle, and friend. He has touched many lives over the years and for that he will certainly be missed. He is gone but will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my brother, rest in peace.
