Catherine Veda Barriteau Samuel, formerly from La Digue, St. Andrew, who resided in Maryland, USA, passed away at home peacefully on November 25th, 2021 at the age of 104.
She was the daughter of the late Lewis Charles Barriteau and Rose Felix Barriteau from Birchgrove, St. Andrew.
She was the mother of Gloria Sennon, Dr. Kenneth Samuel, Valita Malcolm, Myrtle Alexander, Cosmus and Winston Samuel in the US, Jeanetta Glasford in Anguilla
She was the stepmother of Jeanette Franklyn-Bailey in the United Kingdom
Mother-in-law of Paul Sennon, Weltine Samuel, Michael Malcom, Andrew Alexander, Stephnie Samuel, and Joanna Samuel in the US, Ansel Glasford in Anguilla
Grandmother of 22, including Kenny, Lisa and Shelley Samuel in Grenada, Theron Samuel in the US Navy, Solange Thomas, Jamal Samuel, Andre Glasford, Prudence Cromartie, Richard Samuel, and Dr. Jonelle Samuel in the United States

The funeral of the late Veda Samuel nee Barriteau will take place on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Mitchellville SDA Church, Largo, Maryland and interment on Monday, 12/13/2021 at the National Harmony Memorial Park Cemetery, Landover, Maryland, USA.

We extend our sincerest condolences to Mikey and family and all of Mrs. Veda Barriteau Samuel family. She lived a long and prosperous life. May you cherish forever the love shared. May she sleep in heavenly peace. Her legacy is great. I remember her well from my childhood days going to Dr. Charles where my mother Margaret Farray James worked.
